For the third year in a row, the Skippack Lions Club will present one 55th Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival volunteer, slated to enroll in college in the coming year, with a $1,000 scholarship.  More than 2,000 volunteers devote their Fest weekend to supporting the mission of the Philadelphia Folksong Society—preserving the past, promoting the present, and securing the future of folk music.

Some Festival volunteers attended the Festival at its inception in 1961 and continue to contribute to the community of folk music lovers, musicians, and patrons who make the Festival possible each year. The scholarship fosters the community of volunteers that make up the new generation of Philadelphia Folk Festival supporters for years to come.

This year, young adults are asked to write an essay responding to the prompt, “How has volunteering at the Philadelphia Folk Festival shaped me for a prospective career?” The Philadelphia Folksong Society is thrilled to partner with the Skippack Lions Club in making this scholarship opportunity possible for another year.

To enter for a chance to win you must be enrolled in college in 2016 and fill out the following entry form: http://pfs.org/enter-fest-scholarship/
